Commissioning Requirements

Once each applicant for Community Chaplains of America has confirmed to us they have completed at least 84 hours of program studies and agreed to our Statement of Faith, we are confident they are serious about their request for commissioning by your church.

Please be prepared to honor a request for commissioning by attesting to their character and spiritual beliefs on behalf of your fellowship and insuring that the church profile is complete.

At Community Chaplains of America we recognize that each church may have its own established procedure or process that’s followed to commission or empower members to reach out to others through missionary work, community service and overall ministry to others.

We encourage you to treat commissioning of Community Chaplains in the same way or develop a process to recognize their willingness to serve in special places throughout the community. Perhaps it is “the laying on of hands” by the church leaders or elders, a church service dedicated to chaplaincy or a series of sermons leading up to a special service. Perhaps your service will include the active involvement of the congregation by requesting them to verbally support and pray for the development and growth of your Community Chaplains in much the same way baby dedications are handled.

In the Pastor Resources section of this website we will be providing sermon outlines and presentations that will assist you in this area. We urge you and your church leadership to make every effort to treat commissioning as a special occasion!
