Commissioning
What is the “commissioning” process?

How is my pastor officially informed of my desire to be commissioned?

Why is “commissioning” necessary?

What is the “commissioning” process?

“Commissioning” involves the pastor or leaders of your church who are being asked to attest to your character and spiritual beliefs. This process may include the “laying on of hands”, congregational prayer, or another official procedure of your church. It confirms to us and your fellow Community Chaplains that you and your church embrace our Statement of Faith and that your church is “sending you out” as their trained representative in your mission field.

How is my pastor officially informed of my desire to be commissioned?

After you receive the Community Chaplain Empowerment Kit and proceed with the self-certification of your study of the kit materials, you will be asked to complete your online profile. When you include your pastor’s name, church, address and email information, they will be notified electronically of your desire to proceed.

Why is “commissioning” necessary?

This step is necessary in order to confirm to us and fellow Community Chaplains that you are seriously interested in ministering to others and your pastor and church leaders believe in your desire to serve your community as a spiritual caregiver and will partner with you in this effort.
