No, a pastor becomes registered with us as part of the “commissioning” process and can receive a discount on teaching materials for the church. Contact Customer Service for more details.

Can a pastor recommend people to register for the Community Chaplain program?
Yes, we encourage pastors and their church leaders to recommend that members of their congregation consider community chaplaincy as an extension of their existing outreach activities. While each member must have their own Empowerment Kit, in some instances, discipleship and Bible study classes may benefit from training materials that will be available. How much does the Empowerment Kit cost and can the items be bought separately?
The Empowerment Kit costs $249.00 and is comprised of the Community Chaplain Handbook, Community Chaplain Training Workbook, Empowerment Audio Series, and other valuable learning materials. See Products.
These items can be purchased individually and members can also enjoy a member discount on each item and additional supplies available from Community Chaplains of America.

How long does it take to read and comprehend the publications and audio/video materials in the kit?
Every one of us reads and learns at a different pace, but it is our desire that you spend at least 84 hours with these materials. Each of the audio CDs should be listened to at least five times in your car or home and allow the same time for watching the DVDs. For the printed materials, each chapter will take an average of two hours depending upon length and complexity of the subject.

Can kits and individual items be customized with the name of my church or organization?
While this option is not available now, we do offer a personalized Id Badge with each Chaplain’s name and church. This item is available to all Gold level members.

What does “commissioning” cost?
Nothing! There is no charge to you or your church for the process of commissioning, however, this step allows you to move ahead with your membership in Community Chaplains of America and choose to enroll in one of the membership options (Silver or Gold).
