To assist Pastors in presenting the concept of Community Chaplaincy to their members Community Chaplains of America has developed a Group Study Kit geared to be an effective overview of the program for Sunday School, Discipleship or Small Group classes. This 10-12 week curriculum provides a facilitator with the core material of an Empowerment Kit along with enough workbooks to cover a 10 member class. Further materials include a Group Study Resource CD including a royalty free PDF of the Community Chaplains Handbook for class distribution. The specific items included in the Small Group Kit can be found here. Additional Community Chaplain Training Workbooks to facilitate a larger class and supplemental resources such as The Compass can be ordered individually.

With the goal of getting Community Chaplain training material into the hands of as many caregivers as possible, this Group Study Kit is geared toward introducing care giving training to those who might be considering becoming a Community Chaplain. Once the class is completed any individuals interested in becoming a Community Chaplain would need to order their own full set of resources found in the Empowerment Kit.

Commissioning Process - Churches

At Community Chaplains of America we recognize that each church may have its own established procedure or process that’s followed to commission or empower members to reach out to others through missionary work, community service and overall ministry to others.

We encourage you to treat commissioning of Community Chaplains in the same way or develop a process to recognize their willingness to serve in special places throughout the community. Perhaps it is “the laying on of hands” by the church leaders or elders, a church service dedicated to chaplaincy or a series of sermons leading up to a special service. Perhaps your service will include the active involvement of the congregation by requesting them to verbally support and pray for the development and growth of your Community Chaplains in much the same way baby dedications are handled.

In the Pastor Resources section of this website we will be providing sermon outlines and presentations that will assist you in this area. We urge you and your church leadership to make every effort to treat commissioning as a special occasion!

Community Chaplains of America is an old, brand new concept in one-on-one ministry. Providing care to those in need has been around for a long time. However bringing caregivers from around the country together in a web-based “community” is brand new.

Welcome to Community Chaplains of America, a center for training, empowering and encouraging caregivers to find mission fields in their backyards, supported by their home church, with the hope of gaining permission to share the life changing Good News of Jesus Christ in an non-threatening manner.
